The Advanced Portal Search or APS add-on adds new features to the Listdom search and filter forms. With this addon, you can search deeper in the listings and have an AJAX search form.
Global Settings
After the Listdom APS Addon is installed and activated on your site, a new section will be added to the Addons tab of Listdom → Settings. The Advanced Portal Search section shows that the addon is activated successfully. The available options on this section are:
Matching Logic
A search form can include several fields such as categories, locations, tags, features, and labels. Each of these fields can have various values. For instance, you can select both Florida and New York as locations in the search form to filter the listings located in these areas.
The Matching Logic option allows users to adjust the search criteria for taxonomy searches. The default method is OR, which finds listings that match any of the selected taxonomies. In contrast, the AND method finds listings that match all selected taxonomies.
For example, if the location logic is set to OR, the search form will display listings located in either Florida or New York. However, if the AND logic is selected, the search results will show only those listings that are located in both Florida and New York simultaneously.
Fallback Image
There is an option in the section called Fallback Image. This image will be used as the featured image of the listings that don’t have one.
Full-Text Search For Skin shortcodes
By default the Text Input which is available in the Listdom search and Filter builder, searches among the listing’s titles and descriptions. With this addon, if you assign a text search field in the search form, it will act as a Full-Text Search and search the listings’ categories, locations, features, labels, and tags as well as the titles, and descriptions.
AJAX Search For Skin shortcodes
The other APS addon feature is the “Ajax Search Functionality”. This option is added to the Listdom shortcodes. AJAX search is a useful functionality that lets the search results appear without reloading the page which brings a faster search and better user experience. The available options are:
- Disabled: The AJAX search is deactivated.
- Enabled: The AJAX search is activated. After choosing the search options, the user should press the search button, and the results are shown without reloading the page.
- On The Fly: This is an even faster way to show the search results. It shows the results while the user is selecting the search options. The user doesn’t need to press the search button.
