After the Listdom CSV add-on is installed and activated, it will add a new CSV tab in Listdom → Import / Export. This tab has four options that we will consider in detail.
- Import
- Mapping Templates
- Auto Import
- Export
Import
In this section, you can select your CSV file and then map the fields with the Listdom default fields, and finally click on the Import button to do the import process. When the file is uploaded, These sections will be displayed:
1. Mapping Table: A table to map the Listdom default fields with the uploaded CSV file. The columns of this table are:
- Listdom Field: The default fields of the Listdom e.g. title, price, tags, categories, etc. The required fields are marked with a red star.
Note: The Unique ID field is required if you want to update the existing listings. If you don’t map it then Listdom tries to update the existing listing with the same title and content.
Note: In the category, label, tag, feature, and location and also the listing owner fields, if a new value is available in the CSV file that doesn’t exist on the website, the CSV add-on will create a new entity based on that value term and assign that to the listing. - Type: The type of field e,g, text, number, URL, email, etc.
- Mapping: The columns of the uploaded CSV file which must be assigned to Listdom fields one by one. Try to map the fields as much as you can and only map the correct fields to avoid corrupted data after import.
- Default Value: You can insert a default value for some fields if your CSV file does not contain a value. For example, select USD for currency if it’s not included in your CSV file.
2 Mapping Name: You can save the mapping as a template by inserting a name during the import. So you can apply the saved template later and save your time.
3. Load Template: If you’ve already saved some mapping templates before, then you can apply them by selecting them from the dropdown field.
Mapping Templates
In this section, a list of the saved mapping templates is displayed and you can remove any of them.
Auto Import
With the auto-import option, the listings can be updated regularly based on a data source. The available options are:
- Feed URL: This field should contain the URL leading to the CSV file you want to import the data from.
- Field Mapping: Select the mapping template you’ve saved before.
- Interval: Determine how often the data should be updated and imported.
- Import Size: It sets the limit for the maximum number of listings to be imported during each run of the import job.
Export
In the export section, you can export all of the website listings as a CSV file. The exported file can be edited and then imported again to the site.
