The attributes add new custom fields to the listings in all categories or only special categories. For example, you can make a new field to enter the number of employees of the companies listed on your website. To do that go to Listings → Attributes. Make a new Number field and assign that to the companies category. Then whenever you want to add a new listing in this category, you will see this field on the add listing page.

👉 The Attributes are included in the Listdom Pro Add-on.

1. Name

The name or title of an attribute is what’s shown on the front end to users and on the back end to admins. For example, Employees Count.

2. Compare

Determine whether this attribute should be included in the compare table or not. Read more about it on the Listdom Compare Add-on documentation.

👉 The Compare section is included in the Listdom Compare Add-on.

3. Field Type

This field specifies the type of this attribute. Each field type shows a special field in the add listing page. The available fields are:

  • Text Input: The text input field can be used to enter any short string of characters, such as a username, name, last name, or date of birth.
  • Number Input: A number field only accepts numbers and not letters.
  • Email Input: Only accepts the email formatted entries.
  • URL Input: Only accepts the URLs.
  • Drop-down: With this option selected, you should enter the dropdown values in the new field that appears.
  • Textarea: A Textarea lets write several lines of content and is ideal for long text inputs. If selected, then you should determine whether it should be a Rich Editor or not. A Rich editor comes with several edit tools:

The rich editor cannot be a required field.
  • Separator: A Separator is a line that can be placed between the fields. Since it’s not a field that accepts entries, it cannot be required.

4. Related Categories

Attributes can be assigned to all categories, a group of categories, or one category. This allows each category to have its own dedicated fields.

5. Required

Set this field to be mandatory or optional.

6. Index

The Index field lets you set the order of attributes in a list. The field uses relative numbers, so the values are compared to each other, and higher numbers are placed lower in the order. You can change the order of attributes by editing the numbers in the Index field.

7. Icon

This icon will be displayed next to the attribute anywhere on the front end.

8. Schema

Define the “Schema property” of this field according to https://schema.org/. Learn more about Schema types and properties.

9. Image Icon

If filled, Listdom uses this image or icon instead of the default icon. Select a shaped icon with a proper size otherwise, it won’t look perfect.

👉 The Image Icon section is included in the Listdom Advanced Icon Add-on.
