The Listdom supports different taxonomies to classify the listings. The available taxonomies are:
- Locations
- Categories
- Tags
- Features
- Labels
What Is an Archive?
You can create several items in each taxonomy and assign them to the listings. For example, in the Locations, there may be, NewYork, Moscow, Cairo, and Tehran. Read more about the Listdom taxonomies. Each taxonomy has an archive page to show all of the listings it includes. Archive pages are important for search engines like Google, Bing, etc. They crawl the listings by archive pages and index them. Also, a well-structured archive aims to increase the user experience of the directory site.
Listdom Archives Design
An archive page can be a table of the listings, a list of them, or a map including the listings as several markers on it. To make this structure, the Listdom skin shortcodes are used. You should create the desired shortcode for each taxonomy archive page and select that shortcode for each one in Listdom → Settings → Archive Pages tab. It’s possible to use the same shortcode for all or some of the archives too. Read more about the Listdom skin shortcodes.
Note: The Slider, Carousel, and Cover skins can not be used for the archive pages template so the skins created in these skins do not show up here.
