The main settings of the Listdom plugin are in the Listdom → Settings → General tab. The configurations related to the colors that the plugin uses, maps configurations, fonts, Google reCAPTCHA, etc. The General settings have several sections:
- General
- Map Module
- Frontend Submission
- Display Options
- Google reCAPTCHA
- Integrations
Let’s consider each section and its options.
General

- Date Picker Format: Set the default date format for the date picker fields.
- Time Picker Format: Set the default time format for the time picker fields.
- Listing Link Status: Disable the “Listing Link” field in the Add/Edit listing page. The “Listing Link” is used to redirect the listing to a different address e.g. an external affiliate link etc.
- Currency Position: You can set the currency position related to the price.
- Default Currency: Set the default currency that you want to use in your listings.
- No Listing Message: This message will be shown when there are no search results. You can insert a simple test, HTML, and shortcodes.
Map Module

- Default Map Provider: The Listdom supports both Google Maps and Leaflet maps. You can choose any of them to be the default map provider of your site.
👉 OpenStreetMap & Mapbox are included in the Listdom Pro Add-on. You can upgrade to the Pro Add-on now to enjoy all of the features of the Listdom!
- Google Maps API Key: If you want to use Google Maps in the Listdom, you must obtain an API key from Google and enter it here. If you do not have this key, Google Maps will not work.
- Mapbox Access Token: Mapbox tiles make your maps look better. If you’re okay with using the default OpenStreetMap tiles, which are free, then you don’t need to do anything else. However, if you want to use Mapbox tiles with Leaflet maps, you’ll need to enter your access token in the field provided here. OpenStreetMap tiles are enough to get the job done, but Mapbox tiles are way better.
- Default Zoom Level: This setting determines the zoom level of the map in the Location section of the Add/Edit Listing page. It applies only when adding new listings, as the map loads for the first time. In this instance, both the map’s center and zoom level will be based on this setting. When editing an existing listing, the zoom will automatically adjust to ensure the marker or object is visible.
- GPS Zoom Level: If the current zoom level of the map, while GPS locating, is less than or equal to a selected value, this option sets a new zoom level for the map.
👉 The map GPS search and locating is available in the Listdom Pro Add-on.
- Default Latitude: The default latitude of the map in the Add/Edit listing page.
- Default Longitude: The default longitude of the map in the Add/Edit listing page.
- Shape Display Options: The configuration of the shape drawn on the maps. These shapes can be found on all of the maps in the Add/Edit Listing page, skin shortcodes, etc. to show an area.
- Fill Color: The color which the map shape will be filled with.
- Fill Opacity: The opacity of the map shape fill.
- Border Color: The color of the shape border.
- Border Opacity: The opacity of the shape border.
- Border Weight: The weight of the shape border in pixels.

👉 The shape tools in the Add/Edit listing page are available in the free version but the shape tools on the skin maps are only available in the Listdom Pro Add-on.
Geo-Point
Listdom includes a feature that automatically converts addresses into geo-points in the backend. This is particularly useful for listings with addresses but missing geo-points, as it enables accurate location display and facilitates radius-based searches.
How It Works: When a listing is created or edited without latitude and longitude coordinates, Listdom makes a request to OpenStreetMap (OSM) to convert the address into a geo-points. If OSM does not respond due to its limitations, Listdom will fall back on Google’s Geocoding API. To ensure seamless functioning, it is essential to configure the API key for the backend correctly. You should enter the API key in this field.
API Key Configuration: To avoid issues with the API key, such as restrictions in the backend, you should not limit your Google Maps API key by domain, as the backend does not utilize a domain. Instead, restrict the API key using IP address limits. This ensures smooth functionality in converting addresses into geo-points.
Sample Use Cases:
- Geo-points Generation for Listings: When listings only have an address, Listdom will attempt to automatically generate geo-points.
- Radius Search: Users searching for listings within a defined distance from an address will have their input address converted into a geopoint, allowing precise location-based search results.
